Who we are

KickStart Jobs (“we”) operates kickstartjobs.co.uk, a job platform for 16–18 year olds. We are the data controller for personal data collected through the platform. Contact: privacy@kickstartjobs.co.uk.

What we collect

Account & profile: name, date of birth (for age-appropriate safeguarding), email, postcode, education and work interests.

Video pitch: a short recorded video of you (up to 90 seconds) which you choose to record and share with employers you apply to. Video is personal data and is only shown to employers for jobs you apply to.

CV (optional): if you upload a CV, it is stored securely and shared only with employers you apply to.

Usage data: basic analytics (pages viewed, features used) to improve the service. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Because you may be under 18

We take extra care with under-18 users. We only collect what the service needs, we never make your profile or video public — employers see them only for your applications — and you can ask us to delete everything at any time. We encourage you to tell a parent or guardian before recording a video pitch.

Why we use it (lawful bases)

Running the service and matching you to jobs (contract), keeping the platform safe (legal obligation / legitimate interests), and your consent for video processing. You can withdraw video consent at any time by deleting your pitch.

Who we share it with

Employers you apply to (your profile, video pitch, application), our hosting and storage providers (acting on our instructions), and authorities where required by law. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Application data is kept for 12 months after your last activity; video pitches are deleted when you delete them or close your account; account data is deleted on request or after 24 months of inactivity.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). Email privacy@kickstartjobs.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

Security

Data is stored with access controls, encryption in transit, and row-level security so employers can only see applications to their own jobs.
